Watanabe sometimes imagine identity as unfixed and continuously performed with products, props and all that we consume. In his portrayal of our lives, every day is fluctual.

“I am willing and eager to work with social issues and do whatever is required of me to complete the work of art and concepts. I hope to create art that influences people’s minds and provides exciting experiences that lead people to feel ecstasy. Because of the nature of creation feel that artists have, they can’t stop creating their artworks. However, if I could create a thousand artworks in my entire carrier I would be satisfy that I could make only one piece that I feel great about. When the best work that I feel good about and the people satisfactions are matched, that would create the powerful artwork that imprints in the history and culture. That is what I want people to experience through my art work. My perspective on art-making is not to limit my ideas and their possibilities, or the flexibilities of my imagination. For this reason, I have not had a single primary medium like most artists. The more I become involved in the creation of fine art, the more I pay careful attention to media and its meaning. Creating art with the assistance of the manufacturers is one of the ideas I consider as it allows me to take my ideas and work further. This is how I would like to pursue my art and ideas in the 21st century.”
